Join our new practical volunteer group in the Glenderamackin catchment. Meeting on the third Wednesday of the month, the Glenderamackin Volunteer Group, will help with practical conservation tasks ranging from tree and hedge planting to invasive species management.
All the work you help with will be part of our major Restoring the Derwent project which aims to work with local people, farmers, landowners and partner organisations to deliver a suite of measures to provide multiple environmental benefits, including to slow the flow and reduce flood risk downstream and to improve water quality and biodiversity in the Glenderamackin catchment.
The first event is on Wednesday 19 May. We’ll be doing essential tree and hedge maintenance near Troutbeck. This will include straightening windblown stakes, replacing tubes and clearing competitive grass.
Please bring waterproofs, sturdy footwear, lunch, drinks, and gloves if you have them. Tools will be provided.
On-road parking is available and there are toilets on site.
You’ll need to be confident walking on uneven terrain as the site is a distance from the road and some of the work will be on uneven ground and slopes.
