Riveting Rivers - a family art trail
Discover a quiet corner of Distington in a peaceful patchwork of woodland trails, winding alongside Stubsgill Beck and dotted with sculptures inspired by nature and the area’s industrial past. This short circular walk leads you through shady woods, along a bubbling beck and past a small waterfall, before opening into fields and farm tracks that loop back towards the village. A gentle ramble where wildlife, creativity and the unexpected come together.

Time: 1hr -1 hr 15 min
Difficulty: Easy
Accessibility: Flat and easy going with gates and stiles, can be muddy
Transport:
Parking: On-street parking on Main Street or a car park can be found just off Main Street

Refreshments: A chippy and a Morrisons Daily can both be found on Main Street for post-walk refreshments.

The oak sculptures are an absolute delight. Children love hunting for them along the paths and discovering more about the creatures they depict. It’s a wonderful, unexpected treat of a walk - and just the right length for families.
