Riveting Rivers - a family art trail
A walk through the woods behind Distington village, leading to a hidden trail of interactive art. Leaving Main Street, the route crosses Distington Beck and follows a quiet track to the riverside, where exquisitel-crafted sculptures feature dials you can turn to reveal the lifecycle of local wildlife. Passing under an old stone railway bridge, the path traces Stubsgill Beck past a small weir, a waterfall, and open farmland, before using the disused railway line to circle back to the village.

Difficulty: Easy
Accessibility: Flat and easy going with gates and stiles, can be muddy
Transport:
Parking: On-street parking on Main Street or a car park can be found just off Main Street

Refreshments: A chippy and a Morrisons Daily can both be found on Main Street for post-walk refreshments.

It’s wonderful being able to walk direct from Egremont to the river and, once the totems are in place on the riverside in early 2025, it will make such a lovely family walk with the fun Tale Trail map too!
