Landowner agreed for 670m of river bank to be fenced off from stock. Furthermore, he volunteered to erect the fencing for free so long as we provided the materials. A generous buffer strip was also agreed. Two areas of exaggerated bank erosion were also identified. The Environment Agency under the guidance of Mr Mike Farrell project managed the willow spilling. All this work was undertaken early spring 2015. The summer has enabled the willow to become established and for dense riparian vegetation to grow without grazing. This has resulted in the banking being much more stable prior to this winters floods.
